Cupcakes and Batter

*Especially for Starla and all others who want to know what the dessert was: There is no recipe, it is just Puff Pastry with a layer of chocolate pudding, then strawberries, then whipped cream, then more strawberries, then more chocolate pudding, and topped with another puff pastry layer and topped off with more whipped cream and some powdered sugar. Easy easy easy.

Impromptu FHE

We had our first FHE ever tonight. Since becoming a family. Because I have worked on Monday nights for as long as I can remember.

Because of financial reasons my Monday night teaching job said goodbye to me and so sorry.

I was really sad because I really want to teach there, more than anywhere else.

But since I had Monday night off I went all out for dinner. One of Josh's faves.

And all out for dessert.

And that was our impromptu FHE.

These are a few of my fave-orite things

I loved looking at the Cookie Magazine home tours. And after seeing the homes featured on there I thought my home is just fine! It doesn't have to look like some highly paid designer came and decorated for me. So I have now started to accept my home for the way it is and the fact that I have no decorating sense whatsoever. But as long as I put things in my home that I love that's all that matters. Besides, it's another creative outlet. And like I've said before, you can never have too many of those. So here are the things in my house that I really like! Just a little tour of my home.

I love this very much. This is a window from Josh's grandparent's house. The paint is chipped and the class is wavy and has some bubbles in it. I love it.

I love this. I don't even buy bread anymore now that I have this.
Beautiful flowers to brighten the room. (Love, Josh)
I love making anything for the kids room. I love all the artwork I made for their room. (This is Paige's side. Peyton has a dinosaur.)
I just love the kids' room. I made so much of the things in there that it makes me feel proud.
And that is the end of our tour for today.
Jusqu' à la prochaine fois. Au revoir.

Hello Warm-er Weather

It's been warmer. And it's January. But January brings sweet treats at our house. Friday evening was picking time. Which is Josh's job. The kids help by scattering those round balls of pink yuminess all over the yard.

(Peyton is thinking, "Please don't hit me in the face with that thing again Dad.")

Taking a picture of me taking a picture him with Paige's Princess camera and finger on the lens. haha.

*Man I wish I could edit my pictures again.

A 3 year old prayer before bed:

Peyton: "Bless the food."
Me: "You have to start with 'Dear Heavenly Father'."
Peyton: "Oh yeah. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for my toys from Christmas, thank you for Paige's toys for Christmas, thank you for mommy's camera, thank you for our dog Sirius. Amen"
Me: "And please bless us to sleep good. Amen."
Peyton: "Oh yeah yeah. Amen."

And a sweet moment we had tonight:
I am coaxing Paige to sleep by rubbing her hair and her cheeks while she snuggles in her blanket.
Peyton: "Mom, what are you doing?"
Me: "I am petting Paige."

Paige is sleepy so I move on to say goodnight to Peyton and tuck him in.
Peyton: "Mom, you can pet me too."

Ahhhhhh. It's moments like these that get me through nights like last night. I AM a good mom! And I CAN do this. Well maybe not a good one but I'm not so bad afterall.

Sweet dreams everyone.

CRACKing up

Dear Future Peyton: Please know that I don't just do things to embarrass you. This is just something that I have to remember about you because it is so cute. Love, Mom

Peyton insists on wearing his underwear (especially his spiderman underwear) backwards because on the back of the underwear is the really cool picture of Spiderman flying through the air from his web. And he thinks that wearing his underwear like this will make him be able to turn into spiderman when danger arises. No matter how much I tell him that they will fit better the other way, he doesn't care. What if Sandman starts threatening the peace, or the city is in danger from the Green Goblin??? I just want him to wear it so he wears it backwards. But this is what I saw from my kitchen window as he was playing outside (saving the city or something).

I mean seriously, how cute is that?

We played dress up...

This is Spiderman.
This is a screaming pterodactyl.

This is a pretty girl. (tasting a pencil)
