Pictures are coming soon! But I thought I would tell you all about Peyton's birthday now. I love having birthdays on the weekend because then it feels like you're celebrating the whole weekend. First of all I can't believe that here we are celebrating his birthday again. He's 2! But so much has happened in the past year that it seems like he should be older too! So anyway, the build up to Peyton's birthday was so exciting for me and Josh, it was like it was our birthday and we were 5! He has no idea what's going on and here we are acting like children. But finally the Friday before his birthday comes and Josh took the day off so we could go to the zoo together. Josh and I had a great time seeing the animals and we saw so many more animals awake and moving around this time it was really neat. But it was a good thing we didn't have to buy a ticket for Peyton because he almost couldn't have cared less about the animals. He was being very defiant. We would say "Peyton, do you want to see the monkeys?!" "No!" would be his answer. The only animals he really liked seeing were the elephants and the orangutans (which are my favorite too). Josh had to go on a camporee for scouts that night which was kind of a bummer but it's kind of nice too! I love having the whole bed to myself and I finished painting our kitchen cupboards too. (I've been painting all of the cabinets in our house for the past month.)
So Sunday comes, which was Peyton's actual birthday, and we skipped church because we were having most of Josh's family and my whole family over. I really love being with both my families and I always enjoy all the action that goes on with everybody together. Peyton was definitely loving all the attention and showing his terrible two side as well. He got some neat gifts and he loves all of them. He plays with his new toys all day. And he loves having new movies to watch and new books to read at bedtime.
And since he turned 2, we decided to once and for all finally just throw away his pacifiers. Yes, he has been attached to his pacifier this long. We always said that when he turned 1 we would take it away, but it was hard, and I was weak, Then we got him down to only having it at bedtime, then Paige was born and I got weak again. So Monday we threw them all away and hoped for the best. And it's actually going really well! I can't believe I waited this long! The only times when he has asked for it is when he wakes up from a nap or first thing in the morning. He digs around his sheets for it, it's kind of cute and kind of sad. I just tell him that it's not here and he forgets about it. He is such a good boy.
So that's his birthday story. If you read this far, thanks. I could probobly talk about my children all day. I am very proud of them. We are lucky to have our family.
